We Have a Conundrum !

This morning auntie Nancy taught us all a new word: Conundrum.  "Yes, we have a conundrum.  We miss you both soooooo much, but we don’t want our new auntie and uncle to go!  We have had our very own "vacation" this week with them and they have spoiled us all.  Seelie is going to have some "retraining" to do when she gets home – especially regarding treats and snacks.  Auntie Nancy thinks bacon is GOOD for us when it is cold.  We love it!

They have taken good care of us and we would like them to come back again sometime and do it again!  They would even like us to visit them in Iowa!  Now THAT would be a carful of canines, wouldn’t it?  HA!

So our new word today has meaning for us.  We want you to come home; we don’t want them to leave.  We don’t know whether to feel happy or sad. But, I can imagine the excitement tonight when you walk in the door.  All Holy Heck is going to break loose! Then we will have no conundrum.

Nancy wants you to know that no ducks feet froze to the ground and the bunnies are all fat and happy even though their water froze last night even WITH the heat lamps on.  It was only 4 degrees! Brrrrrr.

Have a safe flight home.  (Auntie Nancy told us we should say that.)  Right now Diesel and Indy are arguing over whether or not humans can fly.  Charlie is looking for more bacon.  And, Oakley is trying to bark them quiet.

"Baby" has survived the week even though Diesel has tried his best to rip him apart.  Auntie Nancy only had to sew up one more little rip on his hind end.

We all love you very much and we each know that in your heart we each are your favorite one,

Oakley, Indy, Diesel, and, of course,  Charlie

DO NOT COME HOME!

Diesel here speaking for all "the boys."  Our advice for you is DO NOT COME HOME!  That’s right. Auntie Nancy told us that it is like summer in Costa Rica and that you are wearing shorts and swimming suits. No one is wearing shorts here!  Here it is COLD and only Diesel has a coat to wear. The rest of us just have to keep moving to stay warm.  Well, except Charlie since he carries his warm fur coat with him everywhere he goes. Charlie doesn’t move fast like the rest of us.  He is doing well though.  He runs up the stairs lickety-split and jumps up on Auntie’s lap on the couch hardly any effort at all.
It snowed again last night and now is up to even the big dog’s bellies!  Great fun, plus Auntie thinks that we need a "bit of fat" in our diet when it’s this cold, so we all got a piece of bacon again this morning.  I think I like it to be cold.  HA!
The ducks are doing well. Auntie says she hopes it was all right that she opened a new bale of straw for them.  She fluffed both their night bed and the shed outside with a bit more straw. She thought it might help keep them warm. Personally, I don’t think they mind it being cold, but they don’t get bacon.  HA!
Uncle Norm and Auntie Nancy have spent lots of time with us because they got their car struck down the driveway and Uncle Norm doesn’t want to drive Art’s truck even though he told him to go ahead.  They are reading a lot of giving us lots of snuggles and petting.  Yesterday Charlie and I got showers.  Indy is supposed to get his this afternoon when he gets tired of playing outside.   Auntie Nancy says that Oakley probably won’t get a shower because she doesn’t think he’ll stay inside long enough to dry out and she says, "Baby it’s cold outside!"
We all miss you, but don’t you worry about us.  We are having our very own "vacation."  I mean – bacon - extra treats - new people snuggles, - and a nice warm fire going!  What’s not to love  here?

NOT A COUNTRY WOMAN

Honest to goodness you aren’t going to believe with she did!  Auntie Nancy may be a small town girl, but she’s no country woman!   Picture this:  She sneaks downstairs to get dressed up real nice and warm.  She doesn’t want to take us this trip because she says we little guys always try to trip her in the snow and she’s going to get the Sunday newspaper and she’ll be right back.  So, bundled up and wearing Art’s warm boats, she heads out the back door.  I get it she doesn’t want to tromp through the house in the boots.  But instead of walking around toward the barn to walk down the driveway, SHE WALKS THE OTHER WAY!  Yep, that crazy old woman wades through the snow and she’s already huffing and puffing by the time she gets to the little hill she’ll need to climb to get to the driveway.  She stops. Surveys the situation. Thinks about turning around to go back and go the other way. But, then thinks"Oh well, it’s just a little hill," and she tries to climb up.   Bwahahaha   By the time she has fallen three times Charlie and Diesel are in the window barking their heads off and Uncle Norm has let us outside so we can "go help."   Bwahahaha We certainly tried to.   Haha Auntie Nancy was not a happy camper and even kisses from Indy did not make her smile today. By the time she got turned around and waded back to the basement door she had lost all interest in reading the Sunday paper. She gave us all some good entertainment though, including Uncle Norm. He was laughing too.   Auntie?  She
wasn’t laughing, but I did hear her muttering some words I haven’t heard before.  Bawahahahaha
All is good on the farm.  Seth is here offering to help Norm get the car up. Then he’s got a concert to play for. Finally he will get to sleep.  Night shift is rough.  Auntie Nancy will send him home with chili. She made enough for a small army and now her kids are not coming to play with us.  I think the cold weather changed their minds.
Bunnies and ducks are good. The ducks slept in their house last night. They don't seem to miss their swimming pool. We’re good.  Auntie fried bacon for everybody this morning. Yuuuuummmmmy. What a treat!

BABY It'S COLD OUTSIDE!

Charlie here and I’ve got something to say:  Baby it’s cold outside!  But, not as cold as it has been.  That beautiful white stuff fell from  the sky last night and now it’s a tad more than belly deep on the me and Diesel, and more is expected to fall tonight. Sigh.

"FUN!" says Indy.  "FUN! "says Oakley. " Fun !"says Diesel (wearing his warm jacket).  Me?....  I whisperer, "  I’m cold, so very , very cold, can I go inside yet?"  We all had a good romp outdoors this morning while Auntie Nancy and Uncle Norm did chores and shoveled snow.  Well, the other three had a good romp. I stood by and supervised and gave a little bark if they played too rough.  As you know I really don’t romp.
Seth visited today and he helped grandpa plow the driveway.  He says he will be back tomorrow to do it again because it may snow even more tonight!  The place looks like a Christmas card. Not that I know what a Christmas card is, but I heard Nancy say that to Uncle Norm. " It’s beautiful!, she said, "just like a Christmas card! "
Don‘t you be worrying about us. We are all good. They are keeping us well fed and give us lots of love.  I’ve even gotten Aunt Nancy to loosen up on her treat giving.  Humans can be trained! Tomorrow she is even going to begin to taper my Prednisone I am doing so well. Tomorrow we also are having new friends come to play. Two little girls who will love to play with us in the snow and will brush our fur as long as we will allow it when we come inside to get warm.  Oh my!  Tomorrow is going to be a very good day.

A Word From Wrigley

Wrigley here.   Finally we ducks get to have a chance to speak.  I heard the dogs already told you how cold it has gotten. Well, I say they are just a bunch of woozies because we feathered folks think it’s just right.  Of course the cold temperature did wreak havoc on our  ole swimming hole but, all in all, we are doing great.  The tall skinny guy and the chubby lady keep trying to be friendly. Didn’t they get the memo that we ducks are not social?!  Oh my!  We cackle and carry on like a herd of chickens when they try to get close to us, but frankly, if it weren’t for the worm snacks we probably wouldn’t give them the time of day.  I mean a drake has his pride, ya know?
Hope you are seeing lots of feathered pretties in Costa Rica, but don’t get to liking it too well. We want you home!
Respectfully your most handsome drake,
Wrigley

Auntie Nancy's Squeak

Magic  here speaking on behalf of all us rabbits.  All I have to tell you is that it is COLD here now. 11 degrees last night and going to be 10 tonight! Even in my bunny fur coat I say this : Brrrrr

Auntie Nancy told us that you are exploring something called a "rainforest."  What a crazy idea!  What are you thinking? Man, when it rains in the forest here at home you don’t go exploring!  I think humans don’t always think things through. Now bunnies?  We are perfectly content to stay inside, nibble on sweet alfalfa, and savor an occasional carrot now and then. Speaking of carrots, please remind Auntie Nancy that we are to get those treats more often!  She has been a bit stingy with our carrots and celery.

Yesterday Auntie Nancy opened Amelia’s door to put her hay in.  When she spread her hand wide and tried to block her from escsaping, Amelia batted her briskly with both front paws like a kangaroo trying to box!  Haha. Auntie Nancy was quite surprised!  She let out a squeak! She better be more careful today.  I heard Amelia mumbling something last night about "tomorrow being my freedom day."  Ha This should be fun to watch. I’ll be listening for Auntie’s squeak.

Uncle Norm asked me to tell you that he changed our water bowl wires out for C-clamp clips.  Auntie Nancy’s arthritis was making it really hard for her to untwist the wires.  She likes the clamps much better and they hold the water pans real good and tight. But, he saved the wires in case you don’t like the clamps. I mean after all – what do small town folks know about raising bunnies anyway? HA

I’ll keep the bunny gang in line and on good behavior until you return.  And, when you do – please bring more carrots for all!

Your most sweet and beautifully furred bunny,

Magic

PS – I heard Auntie Nancy tell Uncle Norm that she needs to go to town and buy some ribbons for our hair for a photo shoot. SHOOT!?  That sounds scarey!  Please tell her NO shooting!

CHARLIE'S TURN

Charlie here.  I finally get to have my say and what I want to say is this:  I don’t think I should have had to wait until last to be the speaker for the gang.  Hmmm.  I get no respect around here!  I have, on the other hand, been getting lots of loves from Auntie Nancy.  I trick her by doing a bit of whining and then she thinks I might be hurting, so she lets me cuddle on her lap and give me lots of nice soft pets.  HA!  I have her wrapped around my little finger.

My only complaint is that she thinks I want to eat too much. One day I coaxed her into giving me treats FOUR times!  Auntie Nancy says that is too much so now she is breaking the tiny treats into even smaller chunks to try to make me think I am getting more.  Ha!  She can’t fool me. I am a very smart dog. I may need to do a bit more whining.

Auntie Nancy said to tell you she has not changed my Prednisone dose yet. Says she doesn’t want to "rock the boat" because I am doing so well.  Silly auntie, we don’t have any boats here in the house.  Crazy old lady. HA!

A MESSAGE FROM INDY

This is Indy!  It’s my turn to be spokesman today.  The biggest thing I have to tell you is it snowed!  I love it. Pure white, fluffy joy!  Diesel, Oakley and I have had great fun frolicking in it. Aunt Nancy likes it too because we don’t get our feet so muddy.  Haha  Charlie isn’t so enthusiastic.  He feels pretty good, but I don’t think he knows how to frolic. His favorite spot has become sitting between Uncle Norm and Aunt Nancy.  She said to tell you that he’s had no Tramadol and seems to be a pretty happy camper.

The bunnies are warm and safe in their pens.  It’s gotten cold outside, but not too bad inside, so we haven’t used the lamp yet.  The ducks love their wormies!  So everyone is doing great and we all hope you are lazing on a beach, or exploring a rainforest.  Don’t worry about us.  Oakley keeps the "boys" in line and I am his wing man.  The home front is in good hands.

ALPHA DOG

HPMPH!  I could not believe it when Diesel told me that he got to be speaker for the gang last night, just because I was off patrolling the place and keeping them all safe.  Please Seelie, tell these people that I am the ALPHA dog and I should do all the speaking for us! Hmph.  What do they know anyway.

Everyone is doing good even though we miss you already and want you to come home.  Diesel tried to take off last night by scooting under the gate and he thought he could help me patrol.  Auntie Nancy was worried so she came looking for him with a flashlight.  He gave her quite the chase!  We other dogs just laughed at her. Silly woman. Did she really think ole D would join up with a pack of coyetes, or something?  Haha

Just a quick report to say Charlie is doing great.  Running up the stairs and everything!  He still hasn’t needed any Tramadol.  He tries to eat everything. All in all we are all good.  Please send an email to these folks though and tell them to give us more treats – especially me!

The humans were excited to get their first duck eag and they ate eggs for breakfast. Th3e things they get excited about confuse me. Pretty simple folks.

Your loving dog (and probably you’re favorite, right?)

DIESEL'S IN CHARGE

Auntie Nancy says I get to be the spokesman for the whole gang today because Indy and Oakly are outside and poor lil Charlie is still mourning the fact that you left him.  He lay down right in front of the door to the garage for a long time after you left and now he has crawled into Indy’s bed and fallen asleep.  Nancy says I need to leave him alone and let him rest. She thinks Indy won’t mind because Charlie is feeling sad now and needs a little special treatment. But, he’ll get used to them, don’t you worry!  You just go have a wonderful vacation.
And me?  I’m great!  With the others not around I am getting ALL the loving.  I think I am going to like these new people, but stay in touch and I’ll keep you informed.

Your loving dog,

Diesel
